Beginning with a "Get-to-Know" trip to Guatemala with the Central American Lutheran Mission Society (CALMS) in the fall of 2014, our congregation made the commitment to enter into a 5 year partnership with the village of Taguayni (San Antonio neighborhood). Our first official mission trip took place in January 2016.
Our goal with this partnership is to accomplish two things:
1) Share the truth and love of Jesus Christ, and
2) Experience the truth and love of Jesus Christ shared with us!
We believe God has brought our congregation and this neighborhood together for a reason, and that reason is for our two groups of people to be profound blessings to one another. Not only will much good be accomplished for God's kingdom in Taguayni, but the lessons learned and experienced gained in that place will also lead to many God-given opportunities for his kingdom to grow right here in our surrounding neighborhoods and community. This "double blessing" has already started and exceeded our wildest imaginations, and we excitedly await the next step in this adventure as we make plans for our next mission team's trip to Guatemala in January of 2017.
